After reading the ENTP profile, I can finally understand why some people do not "get" me. I love to argue sometimes just for the sport of arguing. I do have a perverse sense of humor and some view me as cold. ENTP also tend to have little patience for people who do not see their way and are unafraid of pointing this out. The profile also points out that ENTP's are innovative with solving problems yet will bend the rules if it is expendient. I do not bend the rules per say, yet I will adjust them to work out for me. I am extremely close to my family and friends. It says that I may appear oblivious to others and it is hard to get my attention. I just figured that I was good at blocking things out. The last part of the description says "The best approach in communicating with an ENTP is to be straightforward. No games – they’ll win. No "pulling rank" – they’ll just put you in your place. No apologies – you’ll undermine yourself". This unfortunately describes me. In my mind and with my competitive spirit, you will not win an argument with me. I have no qualms about saying exactly what is on my mind. I do not however run my mouth just to be heard. Combine this with my extremely loud voice and some people might try and avoid me. This is unfortunate as I am the nicest person who would help anyone.
I feel that my classroom is a very productive one after I contemplated the pros and cons of my personality and temperament. I do not have a conventional classroom. My children are encouraged to be free-thinkers and discuss how they view the topic. I do not want them to think in terms of 2+2=4, but rather ask why does 2+2=4. This of course will not work for every child or work each year. I am always looking for ways to improve on my teaching and according to my personality, I will never stop.
ISTE NETS standard: 2C.
